Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer oversees the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. This role provides advanced technical leadership, mentors engineering staff, and serves as a senior technical resource within the electrical discipline.

The Senior Electrical Engineer leads discipline-specific work on medium to large projects and may also serve as a Project Manager on select assignments.


Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical discipline design for medium and large projects, with limited use of Revit
  • Delegate moderate to complex tasks and provide technical oversight
  • Review and approve complex designs, calculations, and simulations
  • Review high-level product submittals and shop drawings
  • Provide detailed responses to complex Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Conduct targeted site visits to resolve critical field issues
  • Prepare technical reports and project documentation
  • Participate in project meetings as a senior technical advisor
  • Ensure project delivery meets schedule, quality, and budget objectives
  • Develop project work plans and adjust as needed to accommodate scope changes
  • Mentor engineers at all levels on technical standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Provide team leadership and technical support

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required

Experience

  • 9+ years of progressive experience in the AEC industry
  • Healthcare project experience preferred

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in multiple engineering software platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and QA/QC procedures

Leadership & Management Skills

  • Demonstrated experience leading and guiding multidisciplinary project teams
  • Strong commitment to staff development, training, and mentorship

Communication & Business Skills

  • Excellent client-facing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Proficient in technical writing and contributing to proposals

Supervisory Responsibility

Acts as a technical advisor and mentor to assigned electrical engineering staff. May seal and sign project documents where licensed. Responsible for the training, education, and quality oversight of electrical discipline deliverables.


Work Environment

Hybrid role that is primarily office-based with periodic site visits for field investigation and troubleshooting. Adherence to safety protocols is required.


Physical Demands

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, operate standard office equipment, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Site visits may require climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
